Freemasonry in Lewes

Freemasons have met in Lewes since the 1790s. Here is who we are, where we meet and how to join.

Thinking of joining? See the lodges

Masonry in Lewes has been active since the late 1700s. Our main aim is to have fun, while trying to better ourselves and the community in which we live.

Today five Craft lodges meet at the Lewes Temple, together with a ladies' lodge (Sussex Lodge No. 17) and several other Masonic orders, including the Mark Masons, the Royal Ark Mariners, the Royal Arch and the Royal and Select Masters.

Where we meet

Freemasons Hall, 148 High Street, Lewes, BN7 1XT.

Each year Lewes holds a Heritage Day, and on that day Lewes Masons open the Temple to the public. Visitors can look around and ask us anything they like. We are always glad to explain what we do and to put right any misconceptions.
